Step away from the toaster!

If you're not sure how to properly treat this thing we'll have to ask you to give it back to us.

This is an authentic Brooklyn bagel. That means it was hand-rolled, and boiled before it was baked. 

A Brooklyn bagel comes out of the oven crisp on the outside, a little dense on the inside, with a malty flavor. Slice it open and schmear it with some cream cheese. Or just rip into it! But as long as it's fresh, it doesn't need any help from the toaster.

You won't find blueberries or Asiago cheese on a Brooklyn bagel. That sounds more like a muffin or a scone. You can get your bagel plain, or topped with sesame, poppy, onion, garlic or salt. Even an everything bagel pushes the limits of authenticity.
